A modern twist on Maori Koru pattern

Pastel & Dye Flowers

Very simple but effective. Great for brightening up a wall. Students drew flowers, coloured them in using bright pastels and then painted over them with leaf green dye. They took a lot longer to complete than anticipated, but worth the effort I think.

Recycled Paper Flowers

Very simple yet effective activity. We used recycled paper that we painted and cut into different sized circles that we then attached together with a split pin.

Black vivid outline, black pastel & paint.

Art/Technology

We made these by painting terracotta pots, attaching a wick through the hole and pouring in melted wax. Using metallic paint was quite effective. This was part of a technology unit, children produced the candles in a production line rather than as individuals and then assessed and discussed this process as opposed to producing them individually. The children found they needed to cooperate a lot more and had less opportunity to be creative.
